A $52.7 million bond issue meant to fund major improvements at Ark City Middle School and pay for other USD 470 improvements, has passed. A second bond question that would fund a $14 million pre-k center for the district, appears to have passed by a much narrower margin.
Unofficial totals show 1,129 yes votes and 674 no votes on proposition one. That question pertained to spending for the middle school and other district-wide improvements.
Proposition two received 913 (50.9 percent) yes votes and 881 (49.1 percent) no votes. The second question could only go forward if the first question was also approved.
The results are unofficial pending vote canvassing by Cowley County Commissioners.
