The Andale girls, ranked #5 in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) poll, led just 9-2 after the first quarter.  But then their trapping full court press turned Viking turnovers into multiple layups as they outscored Winfield 20-2 in the 2nd quarter and led 29-4 at halftime.  The pressure defense, full and half court continued as Andale won the 2nd half 33-6 and won the game 52-10.  Abbi Winter led all scorers with 17 points.  Karsyn Hutto had five points to lead Winfield.

The Winfield boys fell behind by double digits for the third straight game, but unlike the previous two games, could not overcome the deficit and lost for the first time this season, 55-40.  Andale, ranked #9 in the KBCA, recognized their State winning football team, which included most, if not all the basketball team. The rugged and aggressive play from the Indians out matched the Vikings all night.  Andale led 18-10 after the first quarter and 33-21 at halftime.  Winfield made a push to get within nine in the second half, but Andale never allowed Winfield to get any closer.  Eight different Andale players scored on the night, led by Caden Fowler’s 14 points.  Winfield’s Evan Hutto connected on five 3-point shots and finished with a game high 21 points..

The Winfield girls are 1-2, the boys are 2-1, and both teams will host Valley Center on tonight.
