A Maize woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following an injury accident Sunday evening north of Udall.

According to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 6:04 p.m. Dec. 21 to the 1000 block of 11th Road for a reported injury crash.

Investigators said a gray 2023 GMC Terrain driven by 33-year-old Marlana Bass was traveling southbound and attempted to pass a gray 2012 Honda Accord driven by 23-year-old Karstyn Nolan of Stillwell, Oklahoma.

After entering the northbound lane to pass, Bass returned to the southbound lane and struck the rear of Nolan’s vehicle. Nolan’s car spun but remained in the roadway. Bass’s vehicle continued south and entered a ditch.

Nolan was evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and was not transported.

Bass was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to the Cowley County Jail. She has since posted bond and been released.
