Construction continues on Arkansas City’s new splash pad at Wilson Park, a $306,500 project approved by city commissioners earlier this year. The pad is being built near Birch Street between First and Second streets and will feature multiple play zones designed for children of different ages.

City officials have said the approximately 3,600-square-foot splash pad will include ADA-accessible features, shaded seating and a variety of interactive water elements. Public Works crews are assisting with site preparation as part of the project.

The splash pad is expected to open later this year, adding a new recreational amenity to one of the city’s most heavily used parks.
