Jackie Ray “Jack” Grant, 88, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, previously of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, April 22, 2026, at the Legacy Village in Stillwater.
Born July 23, 1937, in Winfield, he was the son of Walter Laverne and Evalena (Graham) Grant. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1956. He then attended St. John’s College, majoring in Drafting. He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1958 and served for five years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.
Jack was united in marriage to Carole Sue Lumbert on August 14, 1959, at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where they raised their three children, Mark, Michael, and Julie. Jack was a career farmer in the Winfield area. He took pride in the fields and crops he tended. He also worked at General Electric in Quality Control from 1959 to 1969. Carole preceded him in death on September 5, 2001.
On July 13, 2002, he married Beverly Kay (Hower) Rich. The couple made their home in Cowley County until moving to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2023 to be near family.
Jack was a Charter member of New Hope Fellowship Church and the K&O Steam & Gas Engine Association. He enjoyed bluegrass and country music, auto racing, motorcycle racing, and vintage cars and motorcycles.
His family includes his wife Beverly Grant of Stillwater, OK; his sons, Mark Clinton Grant and wife, Leslie of Derby; Michael Jay Grant and wife, Julie of Stillwater, OK; his daughter Julie Lynne Grant of Kansas City; his grandchildren, Dalton Grant, Alex Grant, Kristin Check, Kayla Grant, Jenna Grant, Erin Reece, and Adaire Reece; and his great grandchildren, Remi Check, Leo Check, and Theo Grant. He is also survived by Beverly’s children Renee Ettinger, Jeanenne Stockton, and Kendall Rich and their children who knew him as grandpa and whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents and first wife Carole, Jack was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, James, and Melvin Grant, and a sister Wanda Mills.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery north of Arkansas City. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 PM. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Jack’s name for New Hope Fellowship Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
