As Memorial Day weekend brings heavier traffic to Kansas roads, the Arkansas City Police Department is reminding drivers to buckle up.
The department is taking part in the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign, which runs through June 1 and includes increased enforcement focused on seat belt use.
According to federal safety officials, seat belts remain one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury or death in a crash, particularly in rollover or ejection incidents. Continue below ad.
Officers are urging drivers and passengers to make sure belts are worn properly and that children are secured in appropriate car or booster seats.
Authorities say whether the trip is across town or across the state, taking a moment to buckle up can make a life-saving difference.
