Sherri LuCrete Heffner, 81, of Winfield, KS passed away June 3, 2026 at Cumbernauld Village.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran School or the Alzheimer’s Association; donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Sherri was born on April 10, 1945 in Canton, Ohio to parents Clyde and Ethel (Ammon) Penrose, she graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1963 and attended Cowley College before working as an executive secretary at Gordon and Piatt. She later worked in real estate in the Ark City area before moving to Wichita, where she was a loan officer before retiring in 1997. On June 29, 1973 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Martin Heffner, in Ark City. Sherri was a member of Central Community Church in Wichita. She enjoyed going to little league football practice and games that Michael and Ronnie participated in. Sherri was also a take-charge type of person whether it be in her work, volunteering or organizing events with the family. She also enjoyed serving others and spent time volunteering as an Ombudsman at nursing homes. Sherri enjoyed puzzles and gardening, but being a grandmother was her greatest joy.
Sherri is survived by her husband Martin, son Ronald Hoskins (Kerry), grandchildren Marley and Malena, sister Berdyne Little, nieces and nephews Wendi Gray, Brandi Lucero, Mandi Patterson, and Kandi Stoeckert.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Clyde Hoskins, and siblings Jean Smith, Linda Swopes, and David Hatfield.
