William Newton Hospital has selected Jason Anglin, MBA, as its next chief executive officer.

The hospital’s Board of Trustees announced Anglin’s appointment following a special executive session Monday. He will officially assume the role Aug. 31.

Anglin has served for more than 20 years as CEO of both critical access and acute care hospitals throughout the region. He also has previous experience as a hospital chief financial officer.

Anglin has been a chief executive officer at hospitals across the Midwest and South. Most recently, he served as CEO of Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville, Alabama. He holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from West Texas A&M University.

Board Chairman Gary Brewer said Anglin’s background and commitment to rural health care made him the right choice for the position.

“Jason is passionate about rural hospitals and finding ways to meet the unique challenges they face,” Brewer said. “He brings a track record of success as well as one of building organizational strength through collaboration and teamwork.”

Brewer said Anglin is in the process of relocating to Winfield and intends to become an important part of both the hospital and the community.

Monroe County Hospital announced Anglin’s appointment as chief executive officer there in April. William Newton Hospital did not immediately respond Tuesday to questions about Anglin’s employment history. Continue below ad.

Current Interim CEO Gigi Fergus, MBA, BSN, RN, will continue serving in the role through August to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Brewer credited Fergus with helping guide the hospital through a pivotal year.

“One year ago, we were fortunate to secure the services of Ms. Fergus as interim CEO,” Brewer said. “During her 12 months, Gigi has led the hospital in stabilizing our financial situation, identifying important steps in quality and compliance, and bringing focus to employee training and development. On behalf of the board, I want to thank Gigi for her many contributions to WNH.”
