Six people are dead and an investigation is under way following an incident in Winfield early Tuesday.
Winfield Police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are partnering to investigate the crime. No formal release of information has been made available thus far.
The investigation is taking place at a residence on West 9th Ave. The block is closed to traffic.
The KBI’s Major Incident Response mobile lab arrived on scene at 12:50 p.m.
Sources told Cowley Post and KSOK that the incident was a tragedy that claimed the lives of multiple people. The incident was initially described as a standoff but has since transitioned to the processing of a major crime scene.
