No one was injured in a residential fire Friday evening in the 500 block of South Fifth Street in Arkansas City.
Arkansas City Fire/EMS crews were called to the home around 8 p.m. with Winfield and Udall fire departments automatically dispatched for mutual aid.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the front of the residence. Crews searched the home and located the fire in a bathroom area. Flames had also extended into the attic.
Firefighters contained the blaze and spent several hours conducting overhaul operations and checking the attic for hotspots.
The occupant was not home when the fire occurred.
An investigation by the Arkansas City Fire Marshal determined the fire was accidental. No injuries were reported.
Ark City Fire/EMS crews and investigators cleared the scene around 1 a.m. Friday.
