Shannon Whis Maruska, 46, of Burden, KS, passed away on September 11, 2026 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date. Memorials in his name may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield to defray expenses.
Shannon was born on October 2, 1979, in Ponca City, OK, to parents Darrell Maruska and Misti Curtis; he attended Arkansas City High School. He married Barbara Coy, and they had two children together, they later divorced. Shannon worked as a roofer, mechanic, and at Creekstone Farms. He enjoyed fishing and working on his Ford truck, which he was a perfectionist about, helping people, and was always easy to get along with.
He is survived by his mother, Misti (William) Curtis, daughter Jadin Maruska, son Laythan Maruska, siblings Angel and Nicholas Maruska. He is preceded in death by his father.
