An Arkansas City man was killed Sunday night in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on U.S. 77 Highway in southern Cowley County.
Cowley County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 9 p.m. to the area of 332nd Road and U.S. 77 for a reported injury accident involving a vehicle and motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation indicated a 2000 gold Dodge Stratus, driven by Stephanie Thielen, 34, of Newkirk, Oklahoma, was crossing U.S. 77 to proceed southbound when it struck a 2004 maroon Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Shawn Calhoun, 37, of Arkansas City.
Calhoun was pronounced dead at the scene. Continue story below ad.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
