Marilyn Irene Pool, 76, of Arkansas City, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Hope Cemetery in Arkansas City. Memorial donations in her name may be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association and left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Marilyn was born on September 26, 1950, in Arkansas City, to parents Kenneth & Shirley (Green) Graham. She graduated from Ark City High School in 1968 and received her LPN certificate after completing her education at the School of Practical General Hospital Nursing (which was owned and operated by the Felician Sisters of the Eastern State) in Blackwell, OK, on September 6, 1970. Marilyn married Robert Lorg in 1971. Together they had their daughter, Amy. The couple divorced in 1976. Marilyn worked as an EMT in Ark City during 1985, and she maintained her EMT license till 2004. Marilyn also was the MA for multiple clinics and doctors' offices. She finished her career at the Ark City Clinic on December 4, 2014. On September 3, 2004, Marilyn married Joe Pool in Ark City, and they shared a long, loving marriage. She enjoyed playing tennis and bowling in her younger years. Marilyn enjoyed all dance forms, and she liked her music. Marilyn kept a tidy garden where she grew flowers and enjoyed mowing. Nature was a key part of Marilyn's life. At her core, she was a tenderhearted person who cared for those around her.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Joe Pool, daughter Amy Zornes (Tony), brother Tim Graham (Jennifer), and sister-in-law Peggy Graham. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Howard & Edith “Pug” Morton and Orlando & Geneva Graham, brother Kenneth “Sonny” Graham and half-brother Terry Graham.
