A burn ban is in effect for the Ark City area.
“The first fall freeze has arrived in Kansas, vegetation is nearing dormancy, and humidity is dropping,” the Kansas Forrest Service posted on social media earlier Wednesday. “These are all good indications that fall fire season is here in Kansas. Do your part in preventing wildfires this season.”
The Kansas Fire Service says these guidelines are key:
???? Check the weather and local regulations before you do any outdoor activities that could cause a fire.
???? Stay with your campfires or burns until they are entirely out.
????Be prepared with water and tools to extinguish your fires.
????Call 911 immediately when you see a wildfire.
