ACFD responds to structure fire Saturday

The Ark City Fire/EMS Department responded to a structure fire over the weekend.

According to a news release from the department Tuesday afternoon, Ark City Fire/EMS responded to a reported structure fire in the 3300 block of 61st Road Saturday around noon.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a significant blaze engulfing the residence.

For three hours, firefighters from the ACFD, Winfield, and Udall worked to contain, overhaul, and extinguish all hot spots within the affected structure.

The damage assessment estimates the total loss at approximately $36,000.

There were no reported injuries to residents or emergency personnel during the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and officials are actively working to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Our appreciation goes to the teams from Winfield and Udall Fire Departments for their prompt response and assistance,” ACFD Fire Marshal Chet Ranzau said. “Their collaborative efforts played a pivotal role in effectively managing the incident and safeguarding our community.”
