Arkansas City police are investigating after a man was injured in an apparent accidental shooting Wednesday night, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Officers with the Arkansas City Police Department and Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department responded around 9:50 p.m. to the 1100 block of South Summit for a report of a man with a gunshot wound.
They found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to his thigh. He was treated at the scene and transported to South Central Kansas Medical Center for further care.
The department said the initial investigation indicates the man was intoxicated and accidentally discharged his own firearm.
