The City of Arkansas City is looking for contractors to help rehabilitate about nine homes and demolish two blighted residential structures as part of a new federally funded housing improvement project.
The work is being funded through a Community Development Block Grant, and the city is seeking licensed and insured contractors, where applicable, to join the project’s bidders list.
Both general contractors and specialty trade contractors are encouraged to participate.
“This grant gives us an important opportunity to improve local housing conditions, address blighted properties and strengthen our neighborhoods,” Municipal Project Manager Josie Dolenz said. “We encourage qualified contractors from Arkansas City and the surrounding area to contact us and learn how they can participate.”

The deadline for contractors to submit their information to be added to the bidders list is Thursday, Sept. 10.
The city said procurement for the project will be conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state and local requirements.
