The Arkansas City Police Department has wrapped up its participation in the “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” traffic enforcement campaign, which ran for two and a half weeks.
During the effort, officers conducted overtime saturation patrols to enforce Kansas’ impaired driving laws. In total, 39 vehicle stops were made, resulting in one seat belt citation, 10 speeding citations, and 48 additional citations and arrests.
“If you were stopped during this campaign, we hope you learned from the experience,” Police Chief Jim Holloway said. “Our department will continue to vigorously enforce impaired driving and all Kansas traffic laws — not just during this campaign, but throughout the year. These laws exist to protect everyone we share the road with.”
The department also reminded motorists that impaired driving is always the wrong choice and urged drivers to buckle up.
“Your seat belt is your best defense against impaired drivers. Every trip, every time,” Holloway said.
The ACPD said it will continue proactive enforcement efforts to improve roadway safety.
