Arkansas City Police officers conducted 54 traffic stops during a two-week enforcement campaign aimed at reducing impaired and hazardous driving.

The department participated in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign from Aug. 23 through Sept. 7. Officers increased patrols on local streets and highways during the campaign.

ACPD reported issuing 13 speeding citations, along with citations or warnings for 27 hazardous moving violations and 31 other traffic-related violations.

One stop involved an ignition-interlock requirement. Police also made one arrest for driving while suspended.

The national enforcement campaign has ended, but ACPD is reminding drivers to arrange for a sober ride before drinking and not allow an impaired person to drive.
