Members of the Ark City High School Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and SAFE clubs conducted midterm seatbelt surveys.
According to the Ark City Police Department, the surveys were conducted Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Students went to each entrance of the high school and documented whether drivers were seen wearing seatbelts or not.
“After calculating all the numbers, 94 percent of the students were found to be wearing their seatbelts,” SRO Adam Utt posted on his Facebook page. “While that looks like a high percentage, we would love to see those numbers at 100 percent.”
Utt said few — if any — drivers were considered distracted from the road.
“The students want to say thank you to the safe drivers out there and to continue to be safe and make responsible choices,” Utt said.
