An arrest warrant has been issued for a Winfield man in connection with a shooting last month near Main St., according to the Winfield Police Dept.
Detectives conducted multiple witness interviews and reviewed audio and video evidence before seeking the warrant through the Cowley County District Court for 25-year-old Levi Garwood. He is wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder.
Garwood is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities say he is considered armed and dangerous and caution the public not to approach him.
Anyone with information regarding Garwood’s whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement or call 911. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Cowley County Crime Stoppers at (620) 221-7777 or through the P3 Tips app at www.p3tips.com/551.
Police remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The investigation stems from an alley shooting off Main Street that injured a 28-year-old Winfield man on Nov. 22. Officers found the man with a single gunshot wound to the chest in the 1000 block east alley of Main Street.
He was treated at William Newton Hospital and later flown to Wichita for further care, then released the following day. Police said the shooting followed a verbal dispute between several people, with shots fired from a vehicle.
