Each year the Arkansas City Police Department sponsors a two-night event to connect with the community in hopes of reducing crime.
National Night Out has been a fixture in Arkansas City for over two decades.
The event begins with a Kick-Off Party on Monday held in Wilson Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“There will be something for everyone from food and games to performances from local groups to karaoke and informational booths,” a news release from the ACPD said.
The event is open to the public and there is no cost.
On Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the department encourages neighborhoods within the city to organize block parties.
“One of the most effective ways to reduce crime in our city is to watch out for each other,” the news release said. “That is a lot easier to do when you know your neighbors. Officers will visit each block party and answer any questions citizens may have about crime and traffic safety in our city.”
If you are interested in hosting a block party, there is still time. Please call us at (620) 441-6601 or email us at [email protected] to register your party.
