An autopsy has been ordered after a woman was found dead Sunday in the parking lot of a Winfield convenience store, authorities said.
Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong confirmed the woman was found deceased inside a vehicle at the Casey’s convenience store on West Ninth Avenue. At this time, investigators have found no indication of suspicious activity related to the death, he said.
The woman, who was in her late 50s, did not appear to have local ties and is believed to have been traveling through the area.
The Cowley County Coroner has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains ongoing pending the results of the autopsy.
