The former Arkansas City Medical Clinic building on Radio Lane is moving closer to becoming part of USD 470’s long-range facilities plan.

Contractors are conducting site visits this week as part of the bidding process for the first phase of renovations at the building, located at 510 W. Radio Lane. According to information provided by the district Tuesday, bids for the project are expected to be received later this week.

The initial phases of the project will focus on renovating approximately one-third of the building to house USD 470’s Information Technology Department, including district servers and other technology infrastructure. Funding for those phases will come from the bond issue approved by district voters in November 2025.

Earlier this year, the USD 470 Board of Education approved the purchase of the former clinic building for $460,000 as part of its broader facilities strategy. Continue below ad.

District officials have said the long-term vision for the property is to create a combined district office and technology center. The project is expected to consolidate operations, improve storage capabilities and provide space for future district needs.

The building purchase was approved after the board reviewed estimates from McCownGordon Construction. At the time, district leaders said the project would be funded through a combination of bond proceeds and capital outlay funds, with plans to eventually sell the current district office to help offset costs.

Because the project remains in the bidding phase, district officials said a construction timeline has not yet been finalized. More information is expected once bids are received and reviewed.
