The City of Ark City will hold a town hall meeting open to the public July 13 to pitch a half-cent sales tax.
According to the city, the funds will go to street improvements.
The city proposes that the additional funding will equal $900,000 per year and allow the city to “purchase necessary equipment to demo, replace and maintain our streets.”
The plan for the proposed sales tax bump includes a key street replacement every year, brick maintenance/conversion, sidewalks installed where necessary, street safety maintenance, the conversion of gravel streets into asphalt and new street signage, where applicable.
The town hall will be at the Water Treatment Facility, 400 W. Madison Ave., from 6-7 p.m.
