ORLANDO, Fla. — The Cowley College Spirit Squad turned in a strong showing over the weekend at the DTU The College Classic, earning a national championship, multiple runner-up finishes and additional top honors.
The Tigerettes Dance Team led the way, capturing a national title in Team Performance and finishing as national runner-up in Hip Hop.
Cowley’s Large Co-ed Cheer Team also placed second nationally. The routine featured advanced stunting and synchronization, capping a season of steady improvement.
In the Mascot Division, Tank the Tiger earned a national championship, with a performance that emphasized crowd engagement, creativity and athleticism.
The results follow a season that runs from June through April, with athletes balancing practices, performances at athletic events and community appearances while preparing for national competition. Continue below ad.
“This group has put in an incredible amount of work all year long,” head cheer and dance coach Holli Gurnee said in a statement. “From early mornings to late nights, they’ve stayed committed to each other and to representing Cowley the right way.”
Cowley’s results across cheer, dance and mascot divisions add to the program’s continued presence on the national stage.
