The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office will hold a town hall meeting Jan. 19 at Baden Square in Winfield.
According to Sheriff David Falletti, the town hall will discuss the dangers and risks associated with fentanyl use.
“As we continue to hear about the dangers and risks associated with fentanyl use, it is important to educate community members on the facts,” the sheriff’s office said. “The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with area first responders to host a town hall meeting to help raise awareness about the dangers of this synthetic opioid that is killing citizens across the nation.
“We have also stared to see this locally in our own communities.”
According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Overdose Data Dashboard, there were 45 drug poisoning deaths recorded in Cowley County from 2012 through 2021.
The town hall will begin Thursday, Jan. 19 starting at 5:30 p.m.
