Bridge and water main work will be delaying travel in a few spots in Cowley County starting this week.

According to Cowley County Emergency Management, the county, along with Kirkham Michael and PCI Roads, will be closing 202nd Rd, between 11th Road and 31st Road to repair the decks on a bridge over the Arkansas River, and another bridge over Beaver Creek.

The closure will start on Monday and will remain closed for approximately five months.

Emergency response agencies have been made aware so responders can plan accordingly if they need to respond to the impacted area, CCEM said.

In Winfield, underground utility workers will be repairing a main line at 9th and Main beginning early Wednesday morning, according to the City of Winfield.

Businesses on the east side of Main between E. 7th Ave. & E. 12th Ave. will be without water during the repair. The goal is to have water restored by the start of the business day.

Traffic will be shifted to one northbound lane and one southbound lane during this time. Work will be occurring in the north bound lanes and they will be closed until Friday for street repairs to be made.

“Please avoid the intersection if possible to keep crews and others safe,” the City said.
