A house fire Friday morning in Winfield displaced residents and claimed the life of a pet, according to fire officials.
Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 7:58 a.m. to a reported structure fire at 802 E. Eighth Ave. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the residence.
Crews began fire suppression efforts and conducted a search of the home. All occupants were able to evacuate prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Continue below ad.
One individual was evaluated at the scene by EMS and released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and foul play is not suspected, according to Winfield Fire Marshal Pete Rowley.
