Christi Lungren will open Pfany’s at 111 S. Summit St. in downtown Ark City in 2027. Renovations are currently underway. Pfany’s will be a place she hopes “families feel at home, neighbors connect and everyone is warmly welcomed.”
The vision for the business is a nod to her childhood, which is also reflected in the name Pfany’s – pronounced FAW-neez – and derived from her maiden name, Pfannenstiel. The shop will offer soft-serve ice cream, sodas, snacks, candies and gift items. “My hope for everyone who walks through our door is that we make their day,” Lungren said.

Business hours are expected to be afternoons and evenings, providing another place for students, families and friends to spend time downtown. In addition, shelves full of board games will be available for the public to use during their visits.
The Lungrens look forward to opening the doors next year and thank Ark City for “being a wonderful place to call home for 25 years, to raise our children in and to now share with our grandchildren.” They hope Pfany’s will be a place for families to make memories for years to come.
