Construction on the new Career and Technical Education Center at Cowley College’s main campus in Ark City continues to take shape, according to a press release from the college Thursday.
Construction is anticipated to be completed by July 2024 to open in time for the 2024 – 2025 academic year.
The new building will house the Criminal Justice and Cosmetology programs and allow for the expansion of the existing welding program and additional new programs.
The Criminal Justice portion of the facility will include a simulation room with padded walls for tactics training, lab space, an interrogation room, and a dispatch room.
The Cosmetology wing will include 25 styling stations in the open floor plan, a facial room, a manicure and pedicure room, and a tanning booth.
The facility will also include 24 welding stations along with robotic welders.
“Cowley’s Construction Trades programs will also benefit from the new facility and will offer electrical and HVAC courses,” the college said. “The Career and Technical Education Center will serve as a hub for collaboration, fostering partnerships between the college, local businesses, and industry leaders to meet the high demand and critical shortage of the workforce.
“This facility is a significant investment in the future of Cowley College’s students and the community at large. The center will create a pipeline of skilled professionals who will drive economic growth, innovation, and success in the region by providing access to high-quality career and technical education.”
