A person who fled an accident scene in Cowley County overnight early Tuesday morning has not yet been found, Cowley County Sheriff David Falletti told Cowley Post Friday.

At 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of 252nd Rd between Ark City and Strother Field.

It was discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Wichita.

The driver, 26-year-old Amber Orr of Oxford, was arrested for suspended driver’s license.

However, an unknown passenger of the vehicle left the scene, wrecked the vehicle near 222nd and 41st Rd, and fled on foot. The vehicle was towed and the area was searched for the individual, but not found.

Falletti said as deputies were dealing with Orr out of the vehicle, a male subject, who police still do not know the identity of, moved into the driver’s seat and sped off during the traffic stop.

Falletti said the case remains under investigation.
