Preliminary autopsy findings indicate the death of rural Arkansas City resident John Kanelakos was the result of an accidental drowning, according to Cowley County Sheriff David Falletti.
The investigation remains ongoing and a final report from the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center could take several weeks.
Kanelakos was found dead May 5 in a watershed east of Silverdale after an overnight search involving multiple agencies. Investigators have said he may have entered the water in an attempt to rescue a calf.
