SCK Health announced the addition of a new general surgeon Wednesday.
According to a news release from the hospital, Dr. Scott Porter, a board-certified general surgeon, will be available starting Feb. 23.
“With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Porter is a great addition and will offer another option for general surgery services to the Cowley County area,” the Ark City-area hospital said.
Porter, a Wellington native, completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. He then completed his surgical residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita.
He is currently a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, serves as president of the medical staff at Wesley Medical Center, and is a member of the trauma committee.
“Dr. Porter is passionate about trauma care and laparoscopic and robotic surgery,” the news release said. “Along with his general surgery practice, he provides surgical services to outlying communities, including donating his surgical services to Project Access, which provides care to uninsured and low-income residents of Sedgwick County.”
Starting Feb. 23, Porter will be available for appointments on the first and fourth Friday of every month at the SCK Specialty Clinic, located at 6403 Patterson Parkway.
