Sedan man killed in Cowley County rollover accident early Tues. morning

One person is dead and two others were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday morning east of Winfield, according to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:45 a.m. to the 32000 block of U.S. 160 near 102nd Road for a reported injury crash involving a vehicle rollover with a person trapped.

Upon arrival, deputies found two individuals outside the vehicle with injuries, while personnel from Winfield Fire/EMS were working to extricate a third occupant.

That individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the deceased as Wrangler Sweet, 32, of Sedan. Continue below ad.

The driver, Garrett Riggs, 24, of Moline, and a front seat passenger, Levi Sweet, 16, of Sedan, were both transported to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crash remains under investigation, but preliminary findings indicate the driver may have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll.
