The South Kansas Symphony will perform the third concert of its 2023-24 season, titled “A Symphonic Exploration: Music from the British Isles”, at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Richardson Performing Arts Center at Southwestern College.
The concert is sponsored by Dr. Bryan & Debbie Dennett.
According to a press release from SKS, the British Isles-themed performance will feature spirited jigs, diverse textures, and touches of Celtic folk inspired by the magic of Ireland, Wales, Britain, and Scotland, with a special concert opener presented by members of the Wichita Caledonian Pipes & Drums.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online at southkansassymphony.org or at the RPAC Box Office before the performance. Children under 12 years of age are free with an adult, and Southwestern College, Cowley College, and PreK-12 students, staff, and faculty may attend for free with their school ID.
Southwestern College is also providing an on-campus shuttle service for all remaining performances.
Concert attendees may park in the Circle Drive (bottom of 77 steps), the ADA parking area east of Stewart Field House, or the parking area east of the White PE Building/Indoor Swimming Pool. A bus will pick up guests before the performance and return guests to their cars afterward.
Members of the symphony include Southwestern College and Cowley College students and alumni, community members, and high school students. They represent Winfield, Arkansas City, and surrounding communities like Belle Plaine, Derby, Dexter, Wellington, and Wichita.
Following the March 3 concert, the final regular-season performance will take place on April 28 at 3 p.m. in Richardson Performing Arts Center.
