The Southwestern College financial aid office will hold two community events to help students and families with their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
According to a news release from Southwestern, the events are scheduled for March 4, 6 to 7:45 p.m., and March 23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the community room at the Winfield Public Library. There is no admission charge to attend.
The financial aid team will help people complete their FAFSA and will be able to answer general financial aid questions.
“We are asking community members to bring their tablet or laptop to complete the FAFSA or create their studentaid.gov ID,” Southwestern College Financial Aid Officer Randi Whalen said. “We are targeting learners from all populations, including high school juniors and seniors and their families, adult learners who are in school or thinking about going back, learners who are considering online or main campus classes, and military.”
Whalen says that the goal of these events is reach out to not only families in Winfield, but to surrounding communities that may not have access to local college resources like Winfield and Ark City do.
