A 60-year-old Houston man was seriously injured Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing U.S. 81 near K-55, about two miles west of Belle Plaine in Sumner County.
The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. in Sumner County. Authorities say the pedestrian was hit by a 2016 Jeep Compass driven by 17-year-old Ruby Okamura of Belle Plaine.
The pedestrian was transported to Wesley Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. The driver was not injured and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
