Two men were arrested early Thursday following a traffic stop in Arkansas City.
According to a written release from the Arkansas City Police Department, an officer conducted a stop at approximately 3 a.m. in the 300 block of East Windsor Road for an equipment violation.
While speaking with the occupants, the officer detected the odor of marijuana. The driver was identified as Michael Sonethip Keophonthepha, 45, of Winfield. The passenger was identified as Roger Wayne White Jr., 40, of Arkansas City.
Officers asked both men to exit the vehicle and conducted a search. During the search, police located methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were arrested on multiple drug-related charges and transported to the Cowley County Jail.
Bond was set at $20,000 for Keophonthepha and $19,800 for White. Keophonthepha has since posted bond and been released. White remained in custody as of the latest available information.
According to Kansas Department of Corrections records, Keophonthepha has prior felony convictions, including past drug-related offenses.
The case remains under investigation.
