Unstoppable God Ministries (UGM), a nonprofit Christian ministry serving the disability community, their families and local churches, has purchased 2411 N. Summit Street in Arkansas City – the former Bar Coyote – with plans to open The Belonging Center.
The center will include a large sensory room and host UGM programming that gives families impacted by IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) opportunities to meet and interact through various activities. Community, respite and worship events are also planned for the space.
“My goal is for this building to become a hub for the IDD community. Whether you’re in the thick of parenting a child or adult with IDD, or maybe you just got a diagnosis for the first time, I want you to walk into the doors of The Belonging Center and know that we’re ready to support you,” said UGM founder and executive director Krystian Caywood. UGM hopes to partner with churches and organizations in the area. Partners can receive adaptive resources and training for volunteers. Caywood said the ministry is “passionate about equipping churches with knowledge and resources to embrace the disability community.”
She notes that while UGM is a Christian organization, attendees of its events and visitors to The Belonging Center are not required to have a faith background, and she believes they can still benefit from the programs and activities offered.
