Hands-on career training, steady academic gains and major planning decisions took center stage at the USD 470 Ark City school board meeting Monday.
Board members received an update on Career and Technical Education programs, which connect classroom learning to real-world careers in agriculture, business, health care, manufacturing and technology while helping students build practical, job-ready skills.
Roosevelt Elementary staff presented the school’s winter building report, citing continued academic progress based on winter assessment data. Students also shared how they are leading and giving back through Student Council, while staff highlighted family engagement efforts that support a positive school culture.
In other business, the board accepted a $1,000 anonymous donation for ACMS counselors, approved moving forward with selecting a Construction Manager at Risk for upcoming bond projects, and approved several policy updates. The board also received updates on technology planning, bus replacements, summer programming and the superintendent search being conducted.
