Residents will have a chance later this month to welcome a familiar healthcare provider back to the community.

William Newton Hospital is inviting the public to a come-and-go reception for Wes Turner, who recently returned full-time to the Cedar Vale Rural Health Clinic.

The meet-and-greet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hilltop Cafe. Refreshments will be served and community members are encouraged to stop by and visit with Turner.

A graduate of Wichita State University with a Master of Physician Assistant degree, Turner brings more than 12 years of experience in rural family practice and emergency medicine.

According to William Newton Hospital, Turner’s return is part of an initiative to provide more consistent staffing and reliable access to care across the hospital’s regional clinics.

Turner said caring for rural communities feels personal to him.

“I’m from a small town, and we didn’t have any access to medicine,” Turner said. “So being able to care for these smaller communities just feels like home.”
