JoEtta “Jody” Louise (Simons) Towns age 71, was born on August 30, 1953 in Winfield, Kansas. She was raised and attended school in Severy, Kansas. Jody went to be with her Lord and Savior on the 16th of August after a lengthy battle with colon cancer.
Jody married Kevin Richard Towns on March 20, 1990 in Wyoming. They lived in Riverton, Wyoming for nine years before moving to Oxford, Kansas where they have lived for the past 31 years.
Jody and Kevin attended Hackney Baptist Church. She loved animals, growing flowers, watching all Kansas basketball programs, riding motorcycles and collecting cookie jars and clocks.
Survivors include her husband Kevin Towns of Oxford, Ks; son Marcus Roberts of Bolivar Mo.; three grandchildren: Mariah Tummanee, Hailey and Aden Scott; two great grandchildren Ava and Liam Tummanee; brothers John Simons of Henderson, North Carolina, Robert Simons of Ark City, Ks, Russell Simons of Wichita, Ks., sisters Joyce Smith of Winfield, Ks, Carol Lowderman of Winfield, Ks, Kaye Turner of Ark City, Ks, Angelia Perry of Manhattan, Ks., and Anette Ferris of Frankfort, Ks.; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Jim Simons and Marinea (Shipman) and Joe and Doris Simons
Jody is also preceded in death by her daughter Jessica Scott; brothers James Simons, Jerald Packard; and sisters Phyllis Elder and JoAnn Harper
Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 27 at Hackney Community Baptist Church, 22288 71st Rd, Winfield, KS 67156
