Alfred Fayer, 97, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at BelVilla Assisted Living in Andover, KS.
Alfred Fayer was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 12th, 1928, to Samuel and Francis (Silverstein) Fayer. He graduated from English High School in Boston at 16 years old. He attended college and graduated as an optometrist in 1948. Alfred served his country as an optometrist in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Afterwards, he attended pharmacy school in 1957 and worked as a pharmacist for over 48 years. He married Jean Indeck on March 6, 1960. They had two children, Elena (1966) and Larry (1969) and lived in Sharon, MA for the majority of their lives. After retirement, Alfred and Jean moved to Winfield, KS, to be near their daughter and family. Alfred enjoyed reading, watching the New England Patriots and Red Sox games, taking daily trips to the bank, socializing around town, and enjoying a daily martini. Because of their declining health, Alfred and Jean moved to an assisted living facility in Andover, KS, in 2017. Alfred enjoyed Bingo and all the resident outings. He was one of their most treasured residents, according to staff and residents alike. Alfred genuinely took an interest in everyone he encountered. He will be missed dearly.
Alfred is survived by his daughter Elena Everhart and boyfriend Kevin Boswell, former son-in-law Jeff Everhart and wife Toni, daughter-in-law Mae Fayer, grandchildren Krista, Matthew, and Aiden, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family Roz Tanquary, Sarah and Nick Hale and son Jamie, Sidney and Brandon Pryce and Sam Gile.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean Fayer, son Larry Fayer, and brothers Dr. Michael Fayer and Bernard Fayer.
