1937 - 2025
Arthur “Art” Lewis Biddle, age 87, was called home to his Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 29, 2025. Born on December 19, 1937, in Nardin, Oklahoma, Art grew up alongside his brothers and sisters, developing a lifelong love of the outdoors. From a young age, he could often be found hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying God’s creation—a passion that would remain with him throughout his life.
On December 19, 1975, Art married the love of his life, Sue Jean Simmons. Together they built a home and a life on their farm south of Oxford. Art worked as a welder for Gordon Piatt, where he was known for his skill, precision, and strong work ethic, retiring in 2000 after a long and dedicated career.
Following retirement, Art and Sue found great joy spending time at the lake, fishing from their boat and relaxing in their fifth-wheel camper. Those times were made even sweeter by the company of family and friends who gathered at nearby campsites—sharing laughter, meals, and memories under the open sky.
A true outdoorsman, Art was deeply respected for his hunting and fishing expertise, as well as for the fine hunting dogs he trained over the years. Yet beyond his many talents, it was his loyalty, quiet strength, and steadfast love that most defined him. His devotion to Sue was especially evident in her later years, when he lovingly and faithfully served as her primary caregiver through illness until her passing in 2022.
Art is survived by his sister, Kathy (Mike) Bellis; his son-in-law, Larry (Janna) Putter; numerous nieces and nephews; an extended family who loved him dearly; and many treasured friends—including his lifelong hunting companions, “the Norris boys.”
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Jean Biddle (Patton); his brothers, Jack, Bob, and Dick Biddle; his sister, Thelma Marie Capps; and his stepdaughters, Debbie Simmons and Tammy Putter.
Visitation for Arthur will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 1-7PM with family present from 5-7PM at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas, 67152. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:00PM at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Kansas.
Memorial donations may be made in his loving memory to the Wellington Humane Society or Wellington Free Will Baptist Church. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
Art’s life was one of love, loyalty, and quiet faith—a life well-lived and deeply cherished. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the good fortune of knowing him.
