Born February 15, 1934, in Cushing, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Ira Ocle and Floy (Harmon) Harris. She was raised and received her education in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1952. Following high school, she attended Draughon School of Business in Oklahoma City. The family moved to Winfield, Kansas and Betty began working as a bookkeeper at the State Bank. They returned to Oklahoma and she worked and retired from the Bank of America. Bill preceded her in death on May 23, 2014.
Betty returned to Winfield and was an active, dedicated member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to garage sales and collecting “treasures”. She and Bill also loved antiquing and collecting depression glass, especially the ballerina and green. She enjoyed spending time with her family and served the role of connector. She kept in loving touch with all, made the phone calls, sent the cards and let family know when other members were celebrating or struggling. Family, church and community were at the center of her heart.
