Billie Jo Jones
1943 - 2026

Billie Jo Jones, 82, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, March 2, 2026, at Winfield Senior Living.

Born June 13, 1943, in Long Beach, California, she was the daughter of Lester and Ruth (Sudden) Garber. She was raised and received her education in Long Beach, and Boulder, Colorado, before moving with her family to Wichita, Kansas. Billie attended high school in Derby, graduating from Derby High School in 1962. Shortly after high school, she married Johnny Reynolds, Sr. in Wichita. To this union, three children were born. The couple later divorced.

In the early 1970’s, she married LeRoy Hipsher, and the couple lived in Andover, Kansas where Billie worked in housekeeping at Wesley Medical Center. She remained at Wesley until 1988 when she retired. To this union, one son was born, and the couple later divorced.

She was united in marriage to Delbert Dwaine Jones on May 30, 1992, in Burden. Billie received a certificate as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked as a CNA for Dexter Senior Living, and Winfield Senior Living. She later worked at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. Mr. Jones preceded her in death on June 20, 2009.

She was a member of Burden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts, quilting, baking, and making candy.

Her family includes her children, Johnny Reynolds, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Wichita; Debbie Peetoom and husband, Frederick Abel, Jr. of Leon; Brenda Green and husband, Mike of Oklahoma City, OK; James Hipsher and wife, Crystal of Burden; her brother Arthur Garber of Missouri; her sisters, Hope Garber of Medicine Lodge; Flo Thomas of Oklahoma City, OK; and her 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Billie was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Alvin, and Norman Garber.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 27, 2026, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Burden Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Billie’s name for the Burden United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
