Brenda Cooley
1942-2025

Brenda Cooley, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025, at Winfield Senior Living.

Born January 13, 1942, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Arlene (Case) Calvin. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1960.

She was united in marriage to Ronald M. Cooley on March 20, 1959, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Winfield and moved to Haysville in 1968. They returned to Winfield in 1973 and established the family farm north of town where she was born and raised. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Brenda helped Ron in his many endeavors throughout life. She worked beside him on the farm, and supported him as he did custom combining and driving trucks. Ron preceded her in death on January 12, 2024.

Brenda was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield and the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, volunteering at William Newton Hospital, and taking care of her yard.

Her family includes her children, Rhonda Harding and husband, Randy of Winfield; Charles Cooley and wife, Tami of Winfield; Joyce Ireton and husband, Mike of Winfield; her sister-in-law Jean Antle of Mulvane; her brother-in-law Richard Cooley of Shawnee; her grandchildren, Bethany Graham and husband, Chris of Baldwin City; Natalie Tennant of Arkansas City; Melissa McCaslin and husband, Zach of Winfield; Ashley Chastain and husband, Matt of Winfield; Garrett Harding and wife, Jandi of Winfield; Greg Ireton and wife, Brie of Augusta; Kyle Cooley and wife, Anna of Winfield; Alicia Clark and husband, Shane of Fort Campbell, KY; Braden Shelton and wife, Kirstin of Winfield; her 24 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, Brenda was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Calvin and Mike Calvin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 13, 2025, at First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.

Memorials have been established in Brenda’s name for the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary and for RiverCross Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
