Carolyn Elaine Alley, 85, of Winfield, KS passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Arkansas City United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ark City TOPS group 0151, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born on March 17, 1940 in Hunter, OK to parents Charles and Lataine (Young) York. She graduated from Derby High School in 1958 and then attended the Grace Nursing School in Hutchinson, KS where she became an RN. She then joined the Air Force and received the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being released in 1966. On March 24, 1973 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald “Don” Alley. They made their home in Winfield where she worked at William Newton Hospital and Winfield Medical Arts for many years before transferring to St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita where she retired in 2013 after 55 years of nursing. Carolyn enjoyed reading, going to TOPS meetings in Ark City, being a member of Ark City United Methodist Church, sewing, and crafting.
Carolyn is survived by her children Robin Fleck (Brian), Ivan Alley (Nathan Fox), Heather Allen (Bart), grandchildren Dallas Fleck (Anthony Amettis), Layne Fleck, Price Allen, and Emmerson Allen, and brother Robert York (Debbie).
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Marilynn McAfee and Criss York.
