Cheryl Lynn Mitchell-Eslick
1953 - 2024

Cheryl Lynn Mitchell-Eslick, 71, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2024, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover.

Born Feb. 15, 1953, in Winfield, Cheryl was the daughter of Ross and Wilma Mitchell. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School and progressing to Southwestern University and Wichita State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education.

Cheryl married Chuck Wood, and together they had three children. While raising her family, Cheryl worked as an elementary school teacher in Udall and Winfield. Chuck preceded her in death August 21, 2005.

Cheryl was united in marriage to Brian Eslick on Sept. 11, 2020, and the couple made their home in Winfield. That same year, Cheryl retired from Whittier Elementary School after 39 years as an Elementary educator. Cheryl was incredibly creative and enjoyed spending her free time crafting and landscaping at the home she shared with her husband and two dogs, Teddy and Sophie. Cheryl will be remembered for her big heart and never-ending well of love.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Brian Eslick, of Winfield; her children, Mitchell Wood and wife, Nicole, of Winfield; Sloan Wood and wife, Pagy, of Winfield; Amanda Wood of Wichita; Misti Wood-Watson of Austin, Texas; her step-daughter Rose Silvy and husband, Tyler, of California; her sister Debra Biby of Winfield; her brother Mark Mitchell of Oklahoma; and her grandchildren, Weston, Natalynn, and Evelyn Wood, Jayden, Daxcen, Tristan, Kyisen, and Gracie Wood, Darian and Kylee Watson, and Amethyst and Nellie Silvy.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her previous husband, Chuck Wood.

In accordance with Cheryl’s wishes, no formal services will take place at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
